Mice love dog food and if you have dog food that is not properly stored away it’s a food source for the mice and rats. Most dry dog food is made up of cereal and grains, which is the main food source for mice. Dogfood should be properly stored away in preferably airtight containers. We at Connecticut Termite and Pest Control recently worked on a mouse extermination job where it was a pretty sizable mouse infestation. It turns out the client was storing open dog food in an open bucket. We found four mice live in the bucket and disposed of them. The customer is now storing the dog food in an airtight container and the mouse infestation is all better after catching 17 mice and sealing up the home so the mice can’t get back in.
